Recently, the Super-enterprise Union of Samsung Group sent a formal letter urging Samsung Electronics to lift existing restrictions on the internal use of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT. The union represents workers from five Samsung subsidiaries, and they delivered the letter to Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Business Support Group Head Jeong Hyun-ho on October 17. It is understood that Samsung Electronics had previously restricted the use of these AI tools due to security concerns.

Samsung Electronics has started mass production of the industry's thinnest low-power Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) chips to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) in mobile devices. The newly launched 12-nanometer, 12GB, and 16GB LPDDR5X DRAM chips are only as thick as a fingernail, achieved through Samsung's expertise in chip packaging technology. This design not only provides more space for mobile devices but also improves airflow and optimizes thermal management. In terms of performance, Samsung's LPDDR5X DRAM chips deliver.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman plans to visit South Korea on Friday to meet with senior executives from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The meeting aims to explore the application of artificial intelligence technology in the chip sector and discuss future collaboration opportunities. The meeting is expected to promote the development and application of AI technology. Altman is also in discussions with investors from the United Arab Emirates about funding new AI chip projects.
